Monarch of the Glen actor Hamish Clark helps welcome in the New Year in Hogmanay Live on BBC1 and BBC2.

Hamish says: “I can’t always be with my family, but I always think of them at this time.

“This year, however, I will be able to join them - via the television - and to wish them and all the viewers a Happy New Year.”

The programme features outside broadcasts from Edinburgh and entertainment from Rosanne Cash, the daughter of the late country singer Johnny Cash, comedian Craig Hill from Live Floor Show and a celebrity version of Auld Lang Syne featuring Bruce Forsyth,Lesile Grantham, Shane Richie, Basil Brush, Rolf Harris, Melanie C, Mark Owen, Linda Barker, David Dickinson, Lorraine Kelly, Chris Moyles, Eamonn Holmes, Phillip Schofield and Ainsley Harriott.

EX-EASTENDER Michelle Collins plays a tattooed, manic-depressive, heavy drinking single mum in Channel 4’s The Illustrated Mum.

Every time she gets blue then she adds another colourful tattoo to her collection, but her two daughters, Star and Dolphin, are finding it hard to cope with it all.

THERE’S another Albert Square escapee on ITV. Martin Kemp goes back in time to play serial killer George Joseph Smith in his first ever period drama Brides in the Bath.

The drama is set around the First World War and Smith uses false names to marry three wealthy women.

They don’t want to be left on the shelf but their charming husband only has murder in mind.

The chilling true crime tale is written by Taggart creator Glenn Chandler so be prepared for a high body count.

FIVE celebrates the end of 2003 with the Best New Year’s Eve Party … Ever.
