The line from Boat of Garten to Broomhill was re-opened by Hamish Clark, (Duncan from Monarch of The Glen) on 31 May 2002, adding 6 miles to the line that already existed between Aviemore and Boat of Garten.

Miss Ross and Mrs Simpson, the daughters of the last station master who all lived at Broomhill cut the celebration cake.

Guests at Auchendean can now take a short walk to Broomhill Station to pick up the steam train and spend the day in the Aviemore area; connect there to the main line services, or possibly stop off at Boat of Garten and take a walk to the ospreys; Loch Garten or the Abernethy Forest
