*Philip Glenister co starred with Hamish in My Wonderful Life*

Philip Glenister grew up in Harrow Weald and caught the acting bug at a young age after playing Oliver!

He trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama. This year he has appeared in The Hunt and a second series of Clocking Off. He can also be seen in ITV’s Hornblower and the new crime thriller Lloyd and Hill, in which he stars with Michelle Collins.

Who would be on your invitation list - and why?
“My good friend Hamish Clark from Monarch of the Glen because he makes me laugh. I’d have every casting director that ever existed, Legs and Co at their height and I love comedians, especially Billy Connolly and Eddie Izzard. And Michael Parkinson so he can interview everyone.”

What food would you serve?
“Rack of lamb with Jersey new potatoes, fresh produce from the garden and my girlfriend’s gravy and her Yorkshire pudding. For dessert, chocolate mousse filled with brandy, covered in a thick, strong double cream.”

Which music would you play?
“The Archers theme as people were coming in followed by Desert Island Discs and the national anthem. Something mellow. I’m quite into the Coldplay album. Or if it was people I really hated, then Eminem.”

Who would you have as the lackey in the kitchen?
“Oh Hamish Clark again. He was a servant in Monarch of the Glen so he can be a servant in my house. And Adrian Lukis who I worked with on The Hunt. He’s marvellous at washing up.”

Which after-dinner joke would you tell?
“The only one I can think of is a polar bear joke that goes on too long. I’d leave that to Billy Connolly and Eddie Izzard. Maybe at that point I’d go and help Hamish with the washing up.”

How would this unlikely event compare to the way you normally entertain friends?
“It wouldn’t be any different. We’d just have a ball.”
