Hamish Clark loves Achmelvich Bay near Lochinver, Scotland.

Monarch of the Glen actor Hamish Clark remains enraptured by a childhood haunt. “Every summer my family camped at Achmelvich Bay. We’d spend our days waterskiing and sailing”, he recalls.”

“The sand is so white and fine it’s like flour, and when you went for a walk along it at night, you’d see what we called ‘fairy footsteps’ – the phosphorous in it glowing. There are beautiful pink and purple sunsets and the North Atlantic drift hits Scotland there, so it’s almost tropical. I visited the Maldives recently and it was just like it!
